Undergraduate Programs

The University currently offers a study abroad program in Pune called South Asian Civilization, which examines the history, culture, and society of the South Asian subcontinent through course work, field studies, and direct experience. This quarter-long program accommodates 24 to 26 undergraduate students and is taught in English by University of Chicago professors. The Pune program is operated in cooperation with the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) and classes are held on the campus of Fergusson College in Pune and at the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement campus in Mysore.

The Center in Delhi will support the existing Pune program and may also host other quarter-long academic programs for undergraduate students that are led by both University of Chicago faculty and leading scholars in India.

In 2013, the University joined the U.S. Department of State's Passport to India program, an initiative which promotes internships and study abroad in India programs. The creation of specific opportunities and funding sources for underrepresented students to participate in internships and study abroad programs in India is a key focus.
