Smart Infrastructure requires a substantial investment of INR 39 Lakh Crore (611.48 billion USD approx), calling for innovative solutions to tackle social needs through frugal technologies and local expertise rather than an imitation of the western world. The first Smart Urbanization dialogue focused on effective governance and the economic, social and environmental value of good spatial planning to reduce investment in infrastructure. Prof. Jagan Shah, NIUA and Mr. Jignesh Mehta, CEPT, Mr. Ranbir Das, Fairwood Developers, and H. E. Ambassador Gustavo De Aristegui presented their views on the aforementioned theme.

The YES Institute Smart Urbanization Series is a platform for convening government officials, international investors, civil society leaders, entrepreneurs, academicians, think-tanks and Multilaterals to bring smart city ideas to life.  The series attracts a premier inter-disciplinary gathering of experts to nurture the eco-system for the growth and development of Urban India.  Yes Bank established Yes Institute as a private sector global think tank to channel private sector capital toward India's development.
