Using Groups to Support Recovery from Mental Illness and Addiction

Through June 3, 2018
UChicago Center in Delhi

Begins
Jun. 1

The vision of this conference is to bring together an intimate group of colleagues with experience in different aspects of the use of groups to support recovery from mental illness and addiction.  As coordinators of the conference, Dr. Suma Jacob, Dr. Jeffrey Roth and Dr. Deborah Spitz, are prepared to demonstrate four key uses of groups: group psychotherapy, group relations (the study of group and organizational dynamics), trauma focused therapy and mutual support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon. All of the participants will also bring their own areas of expertise, and we would like to make space for sharing these areas with each other, since we believe that the power of groups lies in the sharing of the resources of all of its individual members.

Dr. Suma Jacob, Dr. Jeffrey Roth and Dr. Deborah Spitz from the Department of Pyschiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago are the key organizers of this conference.

The event is by invitation only.
