International conference on oral cancer and reconstruction & workshop on translational research in head and neck cancer
Head and neck cancer is the commonest cancer in males in India. Majority of head and neck cancers occur in oral cavity. There has been a paradigm shift in the management of head and neck cancer in the last decade with newer risk stratifications, advancements in diagnostics, formulation of standard treatment guidelines and incorporation of multi-modality treatment approach. All aimed at the early identification and individualised treatment of each head and neck cancer patient.
The translational research workshop would provide an excellent opportunity to the trainees and surgeons alike, to be abreast with recent and upcoming advances in the management of oral cancer. The combined format of live debate and didactic presentations allow participants to discuss and question faculty practitioners as they deal with real patient problems and demonstrate how to apply new information and evidence based guidelines into their practices.
The principal faculty organizer of this conference is Dr. Nishant Agrawal, Professor of Surgery and Section Chief, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Chicago in collaboration with Dr. Vipin Arora, Professor in the Department of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery at the University College of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi, India.
The target audience for this conference would be trainees in head and neck surgery, otolaryngology, general surgery, radiation oncology, medical oncology. Practising head neck surgeons, active researchers in head neck oncology, radiation and medical oncology, molecular biology and genomics. Dr. Zhen Gooi and Dr. Evgeny Izumchenko from the University of Chicago will also be participating at this conference.
