At the COP21 summit in Paris last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that a “convergence between economy, ecology and energy shall define our future”. The government’s call for collective responsibility and sustainable models of development echo Mahatma Gandhi’s commitment to an “economy of permanence”.

Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago and Anubandh invite you, Delhi for a lecture by Smt. Ela Bhatt on February 16, 2017 at the UChicago Center. Elaben will present a keynote on her concepts of Anubandh and an Economy of Nurturance as foundations for an alternative and sustainable lifestyle.

Other perspectives on a possible future model will emerge through a panel discussion featuring notable speakers from the spheres of academia, politics and civil society. Through an interactive session between the panelists and the audience, we hope to capture varied perspectives on how climate change mitigation and sustainable development are intimately linked to our lifestyles., and the lessons we can continue to draw from Gandhian thought.
