Title: Director of Operations and Programs

Employment type: Full-Time Position 

Reporting to: Executive Director, Center in Delhi 

Location: New Delhi. May require to occasionally work in the evenings and weekends to support events and meetings with global partners. 

Position Overview: The Director of Operations and Programs provides high-level professional support for a broad range of activities, including grant management and reporting, events, and vendor management. This role supports the Executive Director in developing and implementing procedures by Center policies to ensure effective and efficient operations and advance UChicago Center in Delhi priorities. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the facility, venue, logistics, as well as day-to-day operations of the Center.
  • Ensure Center operations are carried out in an efficient manner.
  • Oversight of event planning and day-of logistics, including alumni events, admissions events, faculty workshops, and public lectures. Events may be virtual or in-person.
  • Supervise direct reports and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a high quality of service.
  • Conceptualize, plan, and organize programs/events in coordination with various stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with faculty and staff to track and manage internal grant budgets.
  • Act as the key point of contact with various functional leaders and team members, vendors, consultants, and others as needed to lead operations work streams, due diligence, and follow-up as required to ensure assigned tasks are completed.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge and ability to manage small grants.
  • Ability to organise academic events/ conferences/seminars/ workshops.
  • Out-of-box thinking and creative designing of events/programs.
  • Effective written and spoken communication.
  • Experience working at academic conferences, workshops, symposia, awards programs, or similar activities within higher education preferred.
  • Strongly preferred working experience in global organizations.
  • International experience is strongly preferred.


  • Management of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective management of programs, navigating through dynamic partnerships with the ability to leverage strengths across functional areas, and excellent project management skills.
  • Work independently and in coordination with other departments.
  • Ability to follow organizational processes.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently to achieve organizational goals.
  • Experience in implementing strategic/operational planning and budgeting processes.
  • Well-developed relationship management skills.
  • Impeccable integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • At least 10 years of program and operations management experience in an applicable field, with at least 5 years of program management.
